International Day of Protest

Report from: Stennis

By Tom Warren

Here is an overview of our weekend:

Friday, October 12th we held a vigil at the front gate of Stennis from 3:00-5:00pm with MUCH traffic coming out of the space center. There were about 8 of us present for this vigil.

We then had a retreat at a nearby retreat center led by Fr. Peter Dougherty of the Michigan Peace Teams. There were 21 people participating in this retreat. The retreat went through till noon on Saturday, and then we went back to Stennis where we were to have a march and protest from 2:00-4:00pm but it poured dowm in buckets so we only had a 15 minute prayer vigil in high winds and heavy rains. 22 people were present for this (the most we have had at Stennis so far).

Pictures to follow.

The spirit was high and the commitment to keep a witness at Stennis seems well grounded and passionate.
