Aloha,

Greetings from Wanda Colon-Cortez, Kyle Kajihiro, and others who gathered at an AFSC-sponsored conference this weekend. In observance of today's (Oct. 7) International Day of Protest to Stop the Militarization of Space, we add our voices to those around the world calling for NO WEAPONS IN SPACE:

We, the participants of the "Rethinking Militarism in Hawaii" Conference -- over 60 individuals representing organizations and communities in Hawaii, the Philippines, Puerto Rico, and the United States -- convened at Camp Kokokahi on the shore of Kaneohe Bay, Oahu, Hawaii, declare that:

There is no threat to justify developing a space-based program which will cost billions of tax dollars, monies that could be channeled towards building true security: meeting human needs (housing, food, health care), improving education and protecting the environment.
