Brig. Gen. Jeffrey Farnsworth pinned on his star and assumed the title of deputy commander for operations for Army Space and Missile Defense Command at Peterson Air Force Base this month. Army Space Command said Farnsworth was promoted in a Pentagon ceremony. “Farnsworth provides oversight of the Army’s operational space and ballistic missile defense forces and other special operating units, which are assigned to U.S. Strategic Command,” the command said in a news release. “These forces are comprised of active, reserve and National Guard Soldiers in the 1st Space Brigade, 100th Missile Defense Brigade and other special operating units.” Farnsworth issued a statement about the importance of space operations for the Army’s future. “Space is pervasive,” Farnsworth said. “Every
war-fighting function and a majority of our equipment and
weapons in all the military services are enabled by space
capabilities.” |
