Japan on Thursday wrapped up a missile interceptor shipment to a far southern island under deployment plans accelerated in response to threats of attack from North Korea, Kyodo News reported.

The Patriot Advanced Capability 3 interceptors reached Okinawa by boat in route to Air Self-Defense Force facilities in the cities of Naha and Nanjo. Tokyo previously planned to begin steadily fielding the arms no later than fiscal 2014.
