The Obama administration is set to request $520 million in the coming budget cycle for a number of Israeli antimissile programs, including the experimental Arrow 3 system, United Press International reported on Tuesday. The U.S. Defense Department last month affirmed plans to continue seeking funds for Israeli missile defense efforts in the face of budget sequestration. Funding from Washington would support additional work on the Arrow 3, including a second trial aimed at destroying a mock ballistic missile, UPI reported. The $520 million funding tranche could come alongside $220 million in additional Pentagon aid for Israeli acquisition of more Iron Dome firing units. The Iron Dome system is designed to intercept short-range rockets. "The money, if approved, would be on top of the $486 million the White
House and Congress have requested or added for Iron Dome in recent years
after formal budgets were submitted," a Jerusalem Post article
